昨年描いた『薄明時』に次ぐ、自画像第Ⅱ弾です。
薄明時もユーミンのレコードジャケットを参考に作りましたが、こちらもユーミンの『告白』を聴きながら描いたものになります。
薄明時の時点ではまだ表情にも服装にもあどけなさが残っていたように思いますが、今回の告白では、
自分自身で己の人生の残酷さをなんとか受け容れ、苦しみながらも自分の道を歩み始めた、
化粧を身につけてすっかり子供ではなくなってしまった、
そんな成年の姿を表現できたと思います。
テーマはモード&ハードボイルド。
これはいつかユーミンも言っていたことですが、化粧をする前と後の顔が違いすぎて（当然この自画像では化粧をした顔を描いているのですが）、これを見たところで、化粧をしていない普段の私を見ても同一人物だとはわからないと思います。
それにしても久しぶりの一枚絵でした。ここⅠカ月近く、４コマ漫画ばかりに逃げて一枚絵からすっかり遠ざかっていました。それだけ大変な作業なのです。
でも、今でもこうして描けることがわかって安心しました。
